One of Chicago Med’s recurring guest stars has been cast in Dick Wolf’s revival of New York Undercover, after her appearances in Chicago Med season 4.

One of Chicago Med season 4’s most prominent guest stars is now a series regular in ABC‘s New York Undercover, also produced by Dick Wolf.

Anna Enger (also sometimes credited as Anna Enger Ritch) has joined the main cast of the New York Undercover revival as one of the new NYPD officers. Her character is named Lisa Kim and she is described only as “an ambitious climber.”

That news will be of interest to One Chicago fans, because Enger is currently playing the key role of FBI agent Ingrid Lee on Chicago Med.

Lee oversaw the task force that sent Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) undercover and led to him being sent into witness protection at midseason.

In the most recent episode, she was revealed to be living in his new neighborhood—implying that the two could start a personal relationship, especially since Will’s ex-fiancee Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) has moved on with Phillip (Ian Harding).

But if Will and Lee do get together, the rebound romance would presumably be short-lived, since Enger is going to be committed to filming her new regular role on New York Undercover.

The question is, since some of the Chicago Med episodes fans are about to see were obviously shot before her casting, how will things play out on the screen?

Did the writers set up a subplot that was meant to run all the way to the end of the season, and there’s going to have to be a change now? Or there’s an equally likely option, which is that Lee is merely here to service another love triangle (square) for Manstead, and she’ll be out of the way in a few episodes when Will and Natalie reconcile.

Either one is possible, depending on how much drama the writers want to pile onto Manstead and onto the fans rooting for them. Audiences have seen them each be in other relationships before so this is not new territory.

What’s also interesting is that this is the latest case of actors moving from one Dick Wolf series to another. The producer frequently casts performers who’ve appeared in his other shows; S. Epatha Merkerson was a regular on Law & Order before joining Chicago Med, while more than one person from Chicago Justice has turned up elsewhere in the One Chicago franchise since that show ended.

And over on CBS, his other drama FBI includes three Law & Order franchise alums: Jeremy Sisto, Missy Peregrym, and Ebonee Noel.
