How did this week’s FBI season 1 episode do in the broadcast TV ratings? Here’s the March 12 edition of the FBI Ratings Report.

With the first season of FBI continuing, it’s time for another look at the freshman Dick Wolf series’ TV ratings with the FBI Ratings Report.

Tuesday’s episode “Invisible” was the CBS drama’s first new episode since Feb. 26; it was in reruns the first week of March. So did that schedule hiccup have any effect on the ratings?

This week’s episode recorded 8.96 million live viewers. That was enough of an audience to make it the second most-watched show on the broadcast networks Tuesday night, behind only its lead-in NCIS.

The series recorded a 1.0 share amongst the isolated adults 18-49 demographic, which tied it for fifth place amongst the 12 broadcast shows with NBC‘s New Amsterdam.

That would indicate that a sizeable portion of the audience watching FBI skews either younger or older than that coveted age group (which is separated in TV ratings because that’s the age range advertisers are most interested in).

The show’s ratings did take a hit compared to two weeks ago; its previous number was 9.48 million live viewers, so it was down 0.52 (or -520,000).

But still, there’s no cause to be alarmed. For one, CBS has already renewed the show for FBI season 2, so it is not in any danger of being cancelled due to ratings.

More than that, it’s outperforming every other Dick Wolf series currently on the air—yes, including the vastly improved One Chicago franchise that’s become a Wednesday night powerhouse for NBC.

The last new One Chicago shows (on Feb. 27) peaked with Chicago Med at 8.45 million people live, which is still behind FBI, even with its loss of eyeballs this week.

And the most recent Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, which aired two days later (on Mar. 14), did just 4.31 million people—that’s less than half the show’s audience.

It’s clear that CBS and Wolf have a hit on their hands, when even a down week for this show is still better than his other series, and most other shows on TV. Let’s see if the ratings rise again once it resumes airing new episodes on a consistent basis.
