Everything we know about the FBI: Most Wanted spinoff
FBI: Most Wanted’s backdoor pilot is coming in just a few weeks, so here’s everything Dick Wolf fans need to know about the FBI spinoff.
The FBI spinoff is almost here. CBS announced that the backdoor pilot for FBI: Most Wanted will air on April 2, less than four months after it was revealed that the show was being developed.
The pilot is airing as an episode of the parent series, fittingly called “Most Wanted,” where the new agents will work alongside the existing FBI team to catch a fugitive.
It’s the same approach that’s taken with many TV spinoffs, including Dick Wolf‘s other One Chicago franchise shows, which were rolled out by introducing their characters in episodes of Chicago Fire.
So what can TV viewers expect when this big episode drops in two weeks?

FBI: Most Wanted has assembled an interesting cast, which is a mix of familiar TV faces and others who’re more known for their film work.
Its squad is led by Assistant Special Agent in Charge Isobel Castille, played by Alana de la Garza. She’s well known to Dick Wolf viewers for her role as Assistant District Attorney Connie Rubirosa on Law & Order, a part that she reprised on Law & Order: Los Angeles and Law & Order: SVU.
The hard-charging investigator is Jess Lacroix, as portrayed by Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck). Jess’s brother-in-law Clinton Skye (Nathaniel Arcand, Heartland) is on the team, too, so that’ll make for an interesting workplace dynamic.
There’s also Crosby, who only has one name so far (Kellen Lutz, Twilight), the team’s analyst Hana Gibson (Oscar nominee Keisha Castle-Hughes, Game of Thrones), and Sheryll Barnes (Roxy Sternberg, who appeared on NatGeo’s Mars as another of the corporate miners in Jeff Hephner‘s character’s contingent).
The FBI: Most Wanted pilot has a pair of fun guest stars, too: Matthew Lillard (yes, the guy who’s played Shaggy in the Scooby-Doo films) is portraying the triple-homicide suspect the team has to catch, and Peter Facinelli (Nurse Jackie) appears as a character named Mike Venutti.
People are clearly pulling out all the stops for this episode, which is laying the groundwork for a show that’s almost certain to happen. It hasn’t formally been announced for its own first season, but it has a series commitment from CBS.
And given the success of FBI, it’d be surprising if this didn’t happen. Remember that this is a show that will have aired less than 20 episodes when “Most Wanted” premieres, and it’s already getting a spinoff! CBS has a good thing here, and it’s going to get better in two weeks.
