Chicago Med season 4 has unanswered questions, including about Connor Rhodes. Here’s what we want to know about Colin Donnell’s character.

While One Chicago fans wait for the season to resume, we’re passing the time by looking at the characters with the biggest problems to resolve—including Chicago Med‘s Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell).

We’ll break down Connor’s big issue below, then tell us what you think he should do in the rest of the season in the comments at the bottom of this article.

What’s the problem?

Does Connor have anyone he can trust after feeling betrayed by Dr. Ava Bekker (Norma Kuhling) and once again being burned by his father Cornelius (recurring guest star D.W. Moffett)?

What should he do?

Honestly, if we were Connor, we’d just put in for some vacation time and go back to Hawaii because he more than deserves a break from all the drama that he’s been pulled into. But obviously he can’t do that, because that would mean Colin Donnell was off the show for the rest of the season. So…

What Connor needs to do is cut ties with both Ava and Cornelius, which he’s done his best to attempt already. Ava will always be around to some extent, since work keeps bringing them together (and since the show loves writing them together). But Connor can’t let his tendency to care for everybody blind him to how he’s been treated, and how Ava may have a serious mental problem.

Connor needs to focus on himself and decide what’s best for him, not for his ex-girlfriend or his family or even the hospital. He’s done a lot for a lot of other people, and this season has shown how that can be to the tremendous detriment of his own well-being.

What does it all mean?

The side effect of Chicago Med having such a crazy Ava story is that it’s impacted Connor, because he’s almost completely tied to her. So for him, this season has turned into largely one uphill battle after another.

Unfortunately, his only relief is either going to be to get totally away from it—unlikely unless the show gives up on shipping Connor and Ava—or to find out the truth. Until her issues get resolved, his won’t either. But with only six Chicago Med season 4 episodes left, the show’s running out of time; common sense would say answers have to be coming.

The good thing for Connor is that he’s not prone to making impulsive, sometimes ill-advised leaps like other characters, so he should be able to stay patient (if angry) and make a clear choice about what he wants out of the end of this season, and into the next.
