Chicago Med season 4: Catch up before the season finale
Chicago Med season 4 has been on an extended hiatus, so here’s a quick reminder of what’s happened before the final six episodes begin.
When Chicago Med returns on Wednesday, it will have been an entire month between episodes, so we’ve provided a refresher course for One Chicago fans who might have forgotten where the show left off.
These are the important facts you need to know from the last few episodes—the biggest plot twists and the developments that might come back to be relevant again in the remaining half-dozen episodes that are left.

Choi and April
- Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) and April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) hit a rough patch when Choi feared that April had intentionally killed one of their patients.
- However, April was proven innocent and she also forgave Choi—in fact, she showed that she still had romantic feelings for him when she kissed him in the lounge!
- Choi was revealed to feel the same way after he broke up with Vicki Glass (recurring guest star Cynthia Addai-Robinson) for the second time. When Vicki questioned if it was because of April, Choi didn’t answer, thus implying it was.

Will and Natalie
- Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) gave back her engagement ring, calling off her wedding to Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss).
- Will found a new apartment, only to discover that one of his new neighbors was Ingrid Lee (recurring guest star Anna Enger), the FBI agent who’d been in charge of him while he was undercover.
- Natalie, meanwhile, finally acted on her attraction to Phillip (Ian Harding) by kissing him when she went to his house for a home visit.
Connor and Ava
- Dr. Ava Bekker (Norma Kuhling) had a health scare when she was cut while operating on an HIV-positive patient; however, she seems to have escaped unharmed.
- Between the situation with his father and suspicions that Ava’s injury wasn’t an accident, Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell) cut ties with her and urged her to seek mental help. She was not thrilled with his suggestion, as you can rewatch in the video below.
Charles and Goodwin
- Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) saw his ex-wife Caroline (Paula Newsome) come into the hospital for a clinical trial to help her cancer. However, a heart issue made her ineligible for the trial.
- Connor and Ava were able to complete a risky surgery that took care of the issue and made Caroline eligible to be considered for the trial again.
- However, Charles seems like he may be having renewed feelings for his ex-wife, who also happens to be a longtime friend of Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson). Could romance be in the air for Dr. Charles?
- Their daughter Robin (Mekia Cox) came to Chicago with her mother, which led her to finally get closure with her own ex, Connor. But will she appear in future episodes? Does Robin have a storyline of her own?
