Chicago Med season 4, episode 17 recap: The Space Between Us

After helping with the car through hospital situation, Dr. Ava Bekker (Norma Kuhling) and Dr. Connor Rhodes had to treat the driver. Connor quickly located a tumor in his heart, which led to the stroke that caused him to have the accident.
In a classic Chicago Med situation, the patient wanted them to remove the tumor despite the fact that it was a high-risk surgery. And in a classic Ava and Connor situation, she was totally fine with that while Connor wasn’t.
Once they got into the operating room, the duo were faced with a tumor that had extended itself much further than they had thought. And when Connor had to go help Don, he had to ask if their coworker was a heart donor – potentially giving his heart to the man responsible for his injuries.
But thanks to an idea from Robin Charles (returning guest star Mekia Cox), Connor tried a Plan B: removing the man’s heart completely from his body to get full access to the tumor. And guess what, Robin was right! The tumor was removed, the heart was reimplanted successfully, and all was well. Except for Ava getting jealous of Robin, as Chicago Med clearly wanted viewers to ask if Robin and Connor could be hitting it off again.
Elsewhere in the Charles family, Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) was backseat driving with his ex-wife Caroline’s (Paula Newsome) clinical trial, to the point where she kicked him out of her room. It prompted Charles to take his frustration out on a patient, putting her on a psych hold because he didn’t agree with her choices. Enter Goodwin again to give Charles a talking-to about not bringing his emotions to work, and Charles cancelled the psych hold and tried to make up with his ex.
