Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med ratings are in for the latest episodes. Here’s the Apr. 3 edition of the One Chicago Ratings Report.

With another week of the One Chicago season in the books, it’s time to take another look at the franchise’s TV ratings with the One Chicago Ratings Report.

The first week of April saw numbers continue to fluctuate for all three One Chicago shows, as they entered the penultimate month of the 2018-2019 TV season. That’s right, we’re just two months away from finishing this entire season!

Leading off the night, Chicago Med recorded 7.85 million live viewers. That’s another week with a loss of viewers; last week had 7.99 million (so a difference of -0.14, or 140,000). Med has dropped over half a million eyeballs since Feb. 27, when its number was 8.45 (-0.60, or 600,000).

It also lost a significant amount of people in the adults 18-49 group. The show went from rating a 1.2 to a 1.0 share, which dropped it from second place to a tie for sixth place in that category.

The good news is that Chicago Med was still second in total viewers amongst the 15 broadcast TV shows on Wednesday night, so while it’s concerning that the key demographic is tuning out, it’s still delivering solid numbers overall.

Then Chicago Fire arrived at 9 p.m. with 8.10 million people watching live. That, too, is the second week in a row with numbers going down; last time out it had 8.18 (so -0.08, or 80,000).

It also dropped slightly amongst the 18-49 group, as it went from 1.2 to 1.1.

Like its predecessor, though, Fire held onto its overall ranking—it remained the most-watched broadcast TV show of the evening. No other series was able to reach the 8 million mark, and only three other shows got over 6 million people tuned in, so in general Wednesday has become a slower night for television.

Wednesday was closed out by Chicago PD and its 6.91 million audience members. That made it a clean sweep in the “losing viewers” department, because its previous mark was 7.06 (so -0.15, or 150,000).

PD tied for sixth place in the adults 18-49 category with Chicago Med. That pushed it down two spots in that ranking, and it was fourth in total viewers, which was consistent with last week.

While it’s never good to see a night where the entire One Chicago franchise is going down in live viewers, the overall weakness of competition on Wednesday night has meant that NBC is still on top.

For perspective, the whole night corralled over 7.6 million people, while second-place CBS only had 4.8! That’s an almost three million advantage, so fans have to ask themselves if they’re more concerned about the individual show success or the overall picture of NBC consistently winning Wednesday nights. As long as the latter is true, the former probably doesn’t matter as much.
