Chicago Fire stars Taylor Kinney and Jesse Spencer have signed new deals to return as Kelly Severide and Matthew Casey in Chicago Fire season 8.

Chicago Fire won’t be losing any other cast members.

Jesse Spencer and Taylor Kinney have agreed to contract extensions that will keep them on the show for the upcoming Chicago Fire season 8. The deals also include season 9, if NBC renews the series for a ninth season next year.

The duo, who star as Matthew Casey and Kelly Severide respectively, were among a handful of Fire cast members whose contracts expired at the end of this season.

Christian Stolte, Yuri Sardarov and Joe Minoso also had contracts ending after season 7, but all of them are expected to return.

The rest of the regular cast—Miranda Rae Mayo, Kara Killmer, Eamonn Walker, David Eigenberg and new arrival Annie Ilonzeh—are all under contract for next season, if not beyond, according to Deadline.

Walker, Eigenberg, Spencer, Kinney and Monica Raymund all had their original six-year contracts expire last year. While Raymund decided not to return, the other four negotiated extensions, with Spencer and Kinney agreeing on one-year deals at the time.

Now the two of them have reached another agreement for two additional years, so Casey and Severide will be sticking around Firehouse 51 for most of a decade—and One Chicago fans won’t have to worry about saying goodbye to another main character after this season featured the exit of Raymund’s character Gabriela Dawson.

The contract situations on the other two One Chicago shows aren’t immediately known. Chicago PD is returning for season 7 this fall, so the original cast members there may also be needing to agree on new contracts this summer.

But Chicago Med is only going to be on its fifth season, so everyone there should be coming back for another year. Most TV series regular contracts are for five or six years, depending on what the actor and the network/studio originally agree upon.

At least Chicago Fire will be keeping its ensemble intact for one more season, after fans have had to adjust to a major cast change this time around. It’s good that the original One Chicago show will get a chance to re-settle following this season’s developments.
