What should fans watch for in tonight’s Chicago Med? Get ready for Never Let You Go with our Chicago Med season 4, episode 19 preview.

The hospital becomes ground zero for a hostage situation in this week’s Chicago Med, but that’s the least of the things fans should be concerned about tonight.

Wednesday’s installment “Never Let You Go” involves an armed man taking hostages inside the Emergency Department. But there’s a “been there, done that” quality to that plot, because fans have already seen hostage stories on Chicago PD and Chicago Fire.

It’ll be hard work to make this episode feel different, especially since messing up the ED seems to have become an ongoing theme this season (see: the chemical scare from “The Poison Inside Us” and the car wreck in “The Space Between Us”).

Besides, there’s more juicy material in the episode’s subplot.

By now, viewers have heard that Chicago Med has decided to get rid of Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell) and Dr. Ava Bekker (Norma Kuhling), who won’t be returning next season. This episode appears to be starting the storyline that explains how at least one of them will leave.

Cornelius Rhodes’ (recurring guest star D.W. Moffett) brief appearance last episode was apparently foreshadowing, because he’s back this week—and like many other fathers in the One Chicago universe, he’s having health problems.

You can see what lands Cornelius in the ED by playing the sneak peek clip below. But could we get a storyline where Connor, facing his father’s mortality, finally buries the hatchet with his dad and maybe leaves the hospital to focus on his family?

One problem, though: we’ve already seen a similar story with Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss), who similarly made up with his difficult father before Pat Halstead (Louis Herthum) died in the second episode of this season.

We’ll have to see where Chicago Med takes Cornelius, but it sounds like this might be the start of the end for Connor Rhodes.
