The firefighter from Detroit

Meanwhile, Otis (Yuri Sardarov) finds a man named John Garrett, who says he’s a firefighter from Detroit whose car just broke down outside Firehouse 51. But when Chicago Fire lingers on John looking around the place and then shows us the gun he’s carrying, it’s clear that his story was a total crock. And why is he interested in the lost kid situation?

Casey and Severide’s canvass has turned up nothing, while electricians are on the roof of the firehouse trying to do something, and Ritter (recurring guest star Daniel Kyri) is using Tuesday to get on their visitor’s good side. Because who doesn’t like adorable dogs?

Brett eventually brings the now-asleep kid into the bunk room, where she tells Casey that his random vacation idea is something she’s always wanted to do. She encourages him to go for it. It just sounds to us like Chicago Fire is setting it up for them to go together.

Otis introduces everyone to John, despite telling John that he didn’t see his car outside earlier. When John doesn’t know a fellow firefighter Herrmann mentions in Detroit, and mixes up where he was on the road to, Otis knows he’s up to something and keeps him from leaving by suggesting that he give him a firehouse tour. Personally, we’d let the guy with the gun leave before he shoots somebody, but okay.

Foster checks on the electricians before she and Stella start talking about Severide again. Stella is not happy that Foster told Severide to back off of Stella, saying she doesn’t need the other woman fighting her battles. But she will need her help, because predictably, Chicago Fire has one of the electricians get thrown off the roof.

Almost everyone rallies to help him except Otis, who confronts John about lying his way into the firehouse. John’s response is to pistol-whip him, knocking him out cold, before looking for the kid—who’s woken up and gone missing. An enraged John drags Otis’ unconscious body off, and then enlists himself into the search party.
