One Chicago ratings report: Week of April 24, 2019
Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med ratings are in for the latest episodes. Here’s the Apr. 24 edition of the One Chicago Ratings Report.
With another week of the One Chicago season in the books, it’s time to take another look at the franchise’s TV ratings with the One Chicago Ratings Report.
This was the first week of new episodes since April 3, so once again the franchise was dealing with trying to pull live viewers back in after an extended break. What effect did that have on the latest numbers?
Chicago Med returned with 7.71 million people watching live, which was down slightly from the previous audience of 7.85 million (-0.14, or 140,000). It continues to slide downward, as it’s gone from 8.45 at the end of February to now 7.71 after two months of being on and off.
Its 1.0 share among adults aged 18-49 was on par with the previous episode, though, and overall the show held on to second place amongst total viewers, out of 15 shows that aired on broadcast TV this Wednesday.

Chicago Fire had 8.01 million people watching live this week. That was also down; its previous episode had 8.10, and the episode before that had 8.18. So it lost 0.09 million (or 90,000) viewers week-to-week.

That still wasn’t enough for it to lose its position as the most-watched show on broadcast TV, and it also stayed the same in the key demo (a 1.1 share, good enough for second place along with the season finale of FOX‘s Empire).
To close out the evening, Chicago PD brought in 7.05 million live audience members. That made it the only One Chicago series not to drop in viewers this week.
Instead, the show actually gained people tuning in live—the previous new episode recorded 6.91 million (so +0.14, or 140,000). The gain brought PD back on par with the episode before that, which had clocked in at 7.06 million.
Those extra viewers seem to have come from the adults 18-49 group, because the show’s score in that demo was a 1.0, good enough to tie for fourth place with Chicago Med.
What can we learn from this? Chicago PD‘s decision to spoil the death of Blair Williams in a promo earlier this month apparently paid off, as more people tuned in to watch that episode and see the reveal of his killer.
Also, the One Chicago franchise continues to erode, albeit slowly, in ratings week over week. It’s getting to the end of a fairly long (22 episode) season, so perhaps viewers are just getting busier or disinterested. But the losses so far have been relatively incremental, so as long as the franchise keeps delivering better ratings than most shows, NBC probably won’t be bothered.
