One Chicago ratings report: Week of May 8, 2019
Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med ratings are in for the latest episodes. Here’s the May 8 edition of the One Chicago Ratings Report.
The One Chicago franchise returned this Wednesday to kick off the final month of its season, so did the three series start May with big TV ratings?
After another brief hiatus to finish out April, NBC‘s premier franchise is entering May, which is not only the last month of the 2018-2019 TV season but also heading into the “May sweeps” period where series look for huge numbers.
But for our favorite shows, it was kind of business as usual.
Chicago Med had 7.75 million people watching live; that was incrementally better than the 7.71 from the last new episode in April (+0.04, or 40,000).

It’s still not as high as some of the previous episodes, which were over 8 million, but it was good enough to be the most-watched show on broadcast TV for this Wednesday.
The show also held onto its 1.0 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, which has been where it usually has ended up during the season.

Chicago Fire recorded 7.71 million live viewers this week, which meant it was down in live audience for the third week in a row.
It declined from the previous week’s 8.01 million (a loss of 0.3, or -30,000). The series has gradually slid over the last few weeks, losing small portions of the viewership from 8.18 to now 7.71.
Despite that, it only dropped one spot in the weekly rankings; it was still the second most-viewed show on Wednesday behind only Chicago Med. It also only lost a small tick in the key demo (1.0 to the previous 1.1).
At the end of the night Chicago PD pulled in 6.34 million people, which was also a loss—its prior number had been 7.05 (-0.71, or 710,000). It suffered the largest decrease in viewers episode to episode, giving back the eyeballs it gained the last time out and then some.
Like Fire, the series lost a smidge in the demo, with its 0.9 making it eighth out of the 15 shows that aired on broadcast TV on Wednesday evening; it tied with its direct opponent SEAL Team on CBS.
Another week of giving up viewers, however small, is never a good thing. However, with all of the One Chicago shows already renewed, fans don’t need to concern themselves as much as viewers of bubble programs do right now. The question is can these final two episodes coming up deliver the big punch NBC and producers will be looking for at the finish line?
