What should fans watch for in the Chicago PD season finale? Get ready for Reckoning with our Chicago PD season 6, episode 22 preview.

The Chicago PD season finale will finally provide answers, but will they be answers that the One Chicago fandom wants to hear?

Wednesday’s installment “Reckoning” is the conclusion to the mayoral election storyline that has literally been going on all season, and it couldn’t come a moment too soon. This plotline has gone through ups and downs, and it’s time to wrap it up.

Brian Kelton (recurring guest star John C. McGinley) has essentially become another Denny Woods, in that Voight has been on a season-long quest to take him down, and vice versa.

At the same time, this feels like last season of Chicago Fire, in that the heroes are facing the idea that the bad guy is about to become their boss. So what’s going to make this finale different from either of those stories?

What fans are most interested in, though, is what will happen to Antonio Dawson. The decision to drop Jon Seda from the show has been pretty unpopular since it was announced, and last week’s episode had a pretty clear path for his exit, as Antonio struggled with guilt over covering up that he’d pushed a drug dealer through a window.

Chicago PD has to be careful here, though. If the writers are proactive, they’ll set this up in a way that Antonio can come back—because if there’s anyone that deserves to return for guest appearances, it’s Jon Seda.

They also have to be mindful of what they’ve set up for his character previously. Antonio just returned to Intelligence a few years ago. If he confesses and says he can’t do this job anymore, that’s going to feel like a jarring change for the guy who felt like this was the place he wanted to be.

But how is Antonio going to avoid losing his badge and/or criminal charges if he confesses? Will someone cut him a deal?

Here’s something else to think about: Chicago PD has been giving fans more scenes with Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) and Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger), like the one you can watch here by playing the video below. Does that mean Ruzek is going to become Voight’s right-hand man when Antonio leaves?

If so, that’s a far cry from the guy Voight was furious at for becoming a mole (albeit an involuntary one) last season. And it could be a huge shift in philosophy for the show because Voight and Ruzek tend to think alike more often than not. Slowly, Chicago PD is losing the voices that are different from Voight’s.
