What can Chicago Med fans learn from With A Brave Heart? Look closer at the season finale with our Chicago Med season 4, episode 22 takeaways.

What did One Chicago fans learn from the latest Chicago Med episode? Here’s what we took away from the season finale, “With A Brave Heart.”

“With A Brave Heart” featured Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) dealing with a threat from earlier in the season coming back to haunt him, while the truth about Cornelius Rhodes’ death came out and April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) had something to reveal herself.

If you missed any of the finale episode or just want a refresher on the events that we’re about to discuss, you can catch up by watching the season finale here.

Below are our takeaways from the finale:

More from One Chicago Center

1) Is Choi’s family drama really over?

The Emily Choi (Arden Cho) storyline finally seemed to end in “With A Brave Heart,” as Emily and her son moved in with her boyfriend Bernie (C.S. Lee)—and Bernie’s wife and his other daughter.

The episode wanted fans (and Ethan) to believe that this unconventional family unit was going to stick but we’re not so sure. How long until Bernie does a thing that makes Emily, or his wife, or both angry? Or will Emily panic again?

Especially with April saying that she missed her period, Ethan (Brian Tee) might still have a lot of family drama to deal with during season 5. He now has things to concern himself with on two different fronts, and Chicago Med seemed to enjoy developing the Emily and Bernie story as far as possible.

It would be no surprise if, as he’s possibly starting a family of his own, Ethan has to go and fix another problem with his sister’s. Or Emily ends up sleeping at April’s apartment again. Or they all end up as some kind of blended family instead.

2) Natalie’s not going to die

Chicago Med fans are biting their nails worrying about Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) since she was left bloodied and unconscious at the end of the finale. But honestly, we wouldn’t be that concerned about her.

There’s been no announcement that Torrey DeVitto is leaving the series; one thinks that would’ve come out when the exits of Colin Donnell and Norma Kuhling were announced. And even if that is being kept under wraps, it makes zero sense to get rid of Natalie—so much of the show right now is about her.

Not only does Natalie have storylines every week, but Will’s stories are often heavily dependent on her. We saw that in the finale when Ingrid Lee (Anna Enger Ritch) realized Will wasn’t leaving Chicago because of his feelings for Natalie. So Natalie’s death would leave Will in a plot lurch and the show without its clear female lead. She should survive, although be aware that doesn’t mean the series can’t get some drama out of her clinging to life first.

3) A special guest star

Did you recognize the man playing Dr. Daniel Charles’ (Oliver Platt) nervous patient? That’s actor and comedian Jonathan Mangum, best known for his appearances on Whose Line Is It Anyway? He also has been the announcer on CBS‘ game show Let’s Make A Deal since 2009, working with his Whose Line colleague Wayne Brady. Not necessarily a game-changing fact, but a fun one and that adds another name to the long list of interesting Chicago Med guest stars.
