Sophia Bush guest stars in Jane the Virgin season 5 episode
Former Chicago PD star Sophia Bush appears in tonight’s Jane the Virgin season 5 installment as a new love interest for one of the main characters.
Fans of Chicago PD will want to see Wednesday’s installment of Jane the Virgin, which features a guest appearance by Sophia Bush.
The actress appears as a woman named Julie, who appears to be the next love interest of Jane’s (Gina Rodriguez) ex-boyfriend Rafael (Justin Baldoni). Beyond that, The CW isn’t saying anything about her character.
But according to Bush, she was invited to come onto the popular show during its final season by Rodriguez herself.
The actress revealed that she’d gotten a call from Rodriguez, who she described as “one of [her] favorite ladies,” in an Instagram post made when she was filming tonight’s episode, according to TVLine.

Her recent roles have been very different from the four seasons Bush spent playing Erin Lindsay on Chicago PD. She also guest starred on the ABC sitcom Alex Inc. opposite Zach Braff, but that show was cancelled after one season.
Since making headlines when she spoke out about the unhappiness that led her to quit Chicago PD, Bush is doing well away from the One Chicago franchise. While visiting other shows, she also starred in a pilot for CBS, Surveillance, which remains in limbo.
It’s not clear whether she’ll be on Jane the Virgin just tonight, or if her appearance tonight is the start of a longer character arc. But One Chicago fans will certainly appreciate having her back on TV, and watching her in a much lighter role will likely intrigue many people.
Sophia Bush’s episode of Jane the Virgin airs June 12 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Watch a promo spot for the episode by playing the video below, then tune into the full episode on The CW.
