Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced the Chicago Med season 4 DVD release date and revealed the box set’s special features.

One Chicago fans now know when they can own the latest Chicago Med season, and what’s going to be included in this year’s DVD release.

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, which releases the show on the home video market, has officially confirmed that the Chicago Med season 4 DVD set will be released on Tuesday, Aug. 27.

That’s the same day as the Chicago Fire season 7 set.

The two sets also have something else in common: Universal’s press release confirms that like the Fire set, the Med collection will not have a single bonus feature on it.

The only extra being included is the two episodes that made up the other two parts of the three-show crossover that took place in September: the Fire episode “Going to War” and the Chicago PD episode “Endings.”

Fans won’t be getting any deleted scenes, gag reels, behind the scenes video or commentaries for season 4; just the 22 episodes as they originally aired on NBC.

It’s a bit disappointing, because with all the changes that the show went through this season (like getting rid of three main cast members), it would be good to have some additional info and learn more.

We now also know the price: the Chicago Med DVD set will have a manufacturer suggested retail price of $44.98, though it can currently be pre-ordered for $34.99 by clicking here. That comes out to $1.46 an episode, including the two crossover episodes.

How does that compare to the digital alternatives? iTunes has the full season available right now for $24.99. Even if you purchase the crossover installments separately (for $2.99 apiece, or $5.98 combined), that only amounts to $30.97.

So the DVD price is about four dollars more if you pre-order now—and you’d have to wait until August.

But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider it. If you don’t stream episodes, or if you just want to have the physical copy, then this Chicago Med DVD collection is worth looking into. The pre-order price is still good, and it may go down in the next two months (if you pre-order here, you’re guaranteed the lowest price between now and the release date).

It’s just too bad there aren’t more extras included, because they would’ve been very much worth the time.
