Chicago PD has Adam Ruzek and Hailey Upton discussing her partner’s family in a scene that was cut out of the sixth season.

Another Chicago PD deleted scene has turned up, and this one will probably be of interest to both Upzek and Upstead shippers alike.

The all-too-brief moment features Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) and Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) walking out of Chicago Med, when the former asks what Ruzek knows about her partner and his complicated relationship with his dad.

Ruzek explains to Upton the difficult history between Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer, who doesn’t appear in the clip) and his father Pat (Louis Herthum), then reassures her that Jay is fine.

That’s because this scene comes from the third episode this season, “Bad Boys,” which takes place after Pat Halstead has died. The Halstead brothers took their father off life support in the previous episode, “When To Let Go”, which was part of the first One Chicago crossover during the season.

This isn’t a massively important clip; it’s only about 30 seconds long, so it was obviously cut out for time, like the previous deleted scene that surfaced last week. But it does add a little bit more depth to both the Upstead and Upzek relationships.

Fans get to see how Upton continues to care about Halstead, and she gets valuable information about her partner’s backstory. But Ruzek, who at this point has just started sleeping with Upton, also is there to reassure her too. It’s too bad there weren’t more moments like these during the season, because it’s a small but appreciated bit of character development.
