Chicago PD season 6 DVD release date and special features
Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced the Chicago PD season 6 DVD release date and revealed the box set’s special features.
After a slight delay, One Chicago fans now know when they can own the latest Chicago PD season, and what’s going to be included in this year’s DVD release.
Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, which releases the show on the home video market, has officially confirmed that the Chicago PD season 6 DVD set will be released on Tuesday, Sept. 10.
The news comes about two weeks after the studio announced DVD releases for the other two One Chicago shows, and the release date is two weeks behind, too.
Now, fans might wonder why Universal isn’t just dropping this the same day as Chicago Fire and Chicago Med, but it turns out there’s a certain logic behind that.

Spreading out the release dates means that the studio can promote the franchise on not one week but two weeks. And it’s been the way that this has been done for a while now.
Viewers might recall that when Chicago Justice was on the air, Universal divided up the One Chicago DVD dates, with two shows being released in August and the other two coming out in September.

It’s a sound marketing strategy, but it does mean that fans will only have two weeks to catch up on the latest episodes—because the next season starts on Wednesday, Sept. 25.
The studio has also confirmed details about the Chicago PD season 6 DVD special features—as in, there aren’t any included on this box set.
All the extras fans will get are the other episodes that comprised the two One Chicago crossover events. That’s the Chicago Fire episodes “Going To War” and “What I Saw,” and the Chicago Med installment “When To Let Go.”
It’s a disappointment that there’s not more, but if you’ve been keeping track, you know that it’s normal. There aren’t special features on the other two sets either; these are bare-bones releases strictly for people who want to own physical copies of the episodes.
And it’s a little bit cheaper than buying them digitally, as it amounts to about $2.04 an episode on DVD, as opposed to $2.99 if you want a high-definition (HD) quality download. It just depends on if you want to own the physical media, or complete an existing DVD collection.
The expected retail price of this set is $44.99 for the full 22-episode season, but you can pre-order the collection at a discount now by clicking here.
