What happened

This Chicago PD season won’t go down as one of Burgess’s best; in fact, it’s a season that she’d probably rather forget. Burgess was hung out to dry by Deputy Superintendent Katherine Brennan in “Ride Along” after a ride along she was pressured into taking went wrong.

Burgess’s romantic life then took a nose dive. Not only did she not get back together with her ex-fiance Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger), but Burgess found out that he was dating Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos). Then both Burgess and Upton were kidnapped and beaten up in the episode “Ties That Bind” which was adding injury to insult.

Kim’s response was to engage in a fling with political operative Blair Williams (recurring guest star Charles Michael Davis) for a few episodes, only for Chicago PD to have him murdered and leave her alone again. So whether it was professional or personal, Burgess had a terrible season and will need a big turn-around next season.
