Chicago Fire season 7 character review: Wallace Boden
What it means
Much like Sharon Goodwin on Chicago Med, Boden didn’t have a big season. He continued to stay mostly in the “boss” space, and served as a supporting player in other character’s stories, whether it was dealing with their complaints or keeping someone off their back.
The big difference is that Boden gets to come out of his office and help fight fires with the rest of the team, which gives Eamonn Walker more screen time, too. That’s a nice bonus, because he’s a wonderful actor who deserves more to do. Every time he gets an episode, audiences can see how talented he is.

So how many more times can we watch “Boden vs. latest fire department bad guy”? At this point it’s been done, and in general the whole One Chicago franchise has played out that whole idea of a higher-up against the main characters quite a bit. Perhaps there can be some new challenges that our Battalion Chief has to overcome?
There’s also Boden’s life outside of the firehouse, too. His relationship with Donna is great, and we don’t see enough of her or Boden just being a family man. That would be something to delve into, especially if Chicago Fire continues to talk about the idea of Boden possibly looking toward a new job or retirement. How would that affect his family?
Plus, more scenes of Boden with his team leaders are always welcome. Especially now that we have Herrmann as a Lieutenant, how about more of those two together?
