Chicago PD alum Li Jun Li will be part of another crime drama, having joined the cast of the CBS All Access series Why Women Kill in a recurring part.

It’s been a few seasons since Li Jun Li appeared on Chicago PD, but she’ll be dealing with crime in a different way as she’s just been cast in Why Women Kill.

The actress, who portrayed Kim Burgess’s (Marina Squerciati) former patrol partner Julie Tay, has booked a recurring role in the upcoming CBS All Access show from Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry.

She’ll play Amy, the privileged and irresponsible daughter of Simone (Lucy Liu) in the series’ story set during the 1980’s. Amy’s engagement is tested by a secret from her fiance’s past and her own interest in a younger man.

The show premieres this Thursday, Aug. 15 on the streaming service, so One Chicago viewers will need a separate subscription to see it. But here’s the trailer:

Though her stint on Chicago PD didn’t last long—Tay was a victim of sexual harassment and also retaliation, as Burgess’s last significant partner before Kim was promoted full-time upstairs to be part of Intelligence—Li Jun Li has been pretty active on TV afterward.

She starred in The Exorcist season 2 as Rose Cooper, the social worker who was also the former love of John Cho’s character Andy, and wound up playing a significant part in the FOX show’s final season. She’s also a series regular on the Netflix martial arts drama Wu Assassins, which is out this month.

Given that Burgess is now with Intelligence, it’s unlikely that fans will see Tay appear in the One Chicago universe again. However, if you enjoyed Li Jun Li in that role and have wondered what she is doing now, you’ll be able to find out this week.
