Claire Holt

Australian actress Claire Holt is no stranger to dramatic television roles. She spent seven years portraying Rebekah Mikaelson on The CW‘s hit series The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. That role showcased Claire’s penchant for both action sequences and dramatic monologues. Rebekah was a vampire who was desperate to live a normal, human existence. When she finally got her wish, it didn’t last long as she was drawn back into her family’s hectic life and forced to help keep them safe.

Besides her famed vampire role, Claire also had a lead part in the 2016 NBC series Aquarius as Officer Charmain Tully, a policewoman fighting to be equal to her male coworkers on the force in the 1960’s. Though Charmain’s fate wasn’t resolved by the end of the series, her determination to get the job done is the same kind of determination that we’d want to see from a doctor at Chicago Med.

Both of Claire’s best-known roles show the range she can commit to. While there are no otherworldly sequences on Chicago Med, there are eccentric patients and extreme situations, like hostage situations and bomb threats—which Holt could handle.

It’s also worth noting her physical similarity to former series regular Norma Kuhling. Both actresses have blonde hair, light eyes, and accents (although Kuhling’s was adopted for the show whereas Holt’s is natural). So like Ava came to the hospital and was determined to climb the ranks, perhaps Claire’s character could come from Australia or New Zealand and amaze the masses at Med with her skills.
