Analeigh Tipton

Analeigh Tipton is a model turned actress, which is something Chicago Med is familiar with. Yaya DaCosta, who portrays April Sexton on the show, was the runner-up on America’s Next Top Model before she got into acting. Analeigh also competed in America’s Next Top Model, placing third in the 2008 season.

Just as Yaya has honed her acting skills with All My Children and now Chicago Med, Analeigh has done the same since over the last nine years. She had supporting roles in 2010’s Crazy, Stupid Love, 2014’s Lucy, and the recently released film Summer Night. The plots on our series usually involve a lot of heart and often emotion, so she could be a fit based on how she’s been involved with love stories and coming-of-age stories.

Analeigh also has the advantage of her fresh-faced look. She can portray younger than her actual age of 30. This could work well in Chicago Med’s favor in two ways: she could fill the more “innocent, girl next door” vibe that series regular Sarah Reese (Rachel DiPillo) brought to Med before she was written off the show. Or she could be brought on to Med as a new nurse, or part of someone’s family, similar to how Chicago Fire introduced Katie Nolan (Brittany Curran).

Either option could created a new storyline, or even connect characters in ways that audiences wouldn’t expect. It worked for Chicago Fire since we got to see a more caring side to Kelly when it came to protecting his Katie; so why couldn’t the same happen on Chicago Med?
