Chicago Med season 5 spoilers: Natalie’s fate revealed!
Does Natalie die on Chicago Med? Producers have given new spoilers that reveal what happens to Natalie in the Chicago Med season 5 premiere.
SPOILER ALERT: This article contains Chicago Med spoilers for the new season premiere.
Natalie Manning’s fate on Chicago Med is no longer a mystery.
Executive producer and co-showrunner Andrew Schneider has announced the resolution to last season’s cliffhanger, which left Natalie (Torrey DeVitto) gravely injured and bleeding in the arms of her ex-fiancee Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss).
Natalie does not die after the car accident, but she does suffer a serious consequence. Watch the wreck one more time below, then find out what happens to Natalie after the jump:
Schneider spoiled to TVLine that Natalie incurs “a traumatic brain injury” as a result of the crash, and the severity of it is revealed in the season premiere—which doesn’t air until Sept. 25.
Furthermore, fans can imply that she makes at least a decent recovery from said injury, because Schneider also said that any hope of Will and Natalie getting back together is “very much on hold,” which it wouldn’t be if she died on the operating table.
And as for Natalie’s current squeeze, Phillip Davis (Ian Harding), who was looking to propose to her just before she went out in search of Will? Well, sorry Manstead fans, but the producer confirmed he’ll be back, too.
Phillip “is not giving up on Natalie,” Schneider added.

That’s a lot of information to drop, and at first glance it seems weird that Chicago Med would give away the answer to its cliffhanger almost a month before the episode airs. But if you’re one of the fans who’ve been keeping a close eye on recent developments, it’s not quite as shocking.
Torrey DeVitto is front and center in NBC‘s key art for the new season, and also featured heavily in the first One Chicago promo, too. While both are a little wonky (they also include both of the stars who are leaving), it wouldn’t make much sense to put her in the most obvious spot if Natalie was dying.
Plus, DeVitto has been posting Instagram photos with her fellow cast members—including Ian Harding—so social media pretty much spoiled both Natalie’s survival and Phillip’s return if you’d been following her.
Still, if you’re not on Instagram or looking too closely at videos, this might still fall under “didn’t want to know until seeing the episode.” The Chicago Med spoilers are out, now, though, and fans will now have to ask themselves what Natalie’s recovery has in store instead of if she makes it.
