The Alienist, which featured Chicago PD alum Brian Geraghty and was Golden Globe nominated, is now available on both DVD and Blu-Ray.

If you missed former Chicago PD star Brian Geraghty in The Alienist, the TNT drama has been released on Blu-Ray as well as DVD.

Based on the novel by Caleb Carr, the series is one-part historical drama and one-part crime drama. It’s set in New York during 1896, when a series of gruesome murders are happening, and an unlikely group comes together to stop them.

Brian Geraghty is known to One Chicago fans for his years playing Officer Sean Roman on Chicago PD, but his role in this show is a big step up in rank. He’s portraying NYPD commissioner, and the future President of the United States, Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt.

Roosevelt enlists criminal psychologist Lazslo Kreisler (Daniel Bruhl, Captain America: Civil War) and newspaper illustrator John Moore (Luke Evans, Dracula Untold), even though it gets him some blowback from the NYPD.

Dakota Fanning (Ocean’s 8) plays Sara Howard, Roosevelt’s secretary who helps serve as a go-between for him, Kreisler and Moore. Watch a clip from the series here:

The series was critically acclaimed, receiving both Golden Globe nominations and nominations for Emmys, including Best Limited Series at both award shows. It didn’t win either trophy, but it still got plenty of attention.

And anyone who enjoyed watching Geraghty fight crime in Chicago will be entertained seeing him try to fight it in historical New York, although he’s more of a supporting player while the Kreisler, Moore and Howard characters do a lot of the heavy lifting.

The entire series is collected in this release, so you can binge it all in one sitting. However, it doesn’t have a lot of special features; only one featurette, called “Pixel by Pixel” and discussing how the producers recreated the historical setting, is included on the set.

You can order The Alienist Blu-Ray on Amazon for $24.99, and the DVD version for just $14.99. A follow-up series, The Angel of Darkness, is in the works at TNT—but Brian Geraghty likely isn’t in it. The network had no comment when asked if he’s returning.
