FBI season 2: Everything we know
Before the FBI season 2 premiere, here’s everything that fans need to know about the upcoming season of the Dick Wolf series.
FBI returns on Tuesday, Sept. 24—and before it does, we’re giving viewers all of the details so you’re prepared for FBI season 2.
A lot has changed for Dick Wolf‘s newest series since it finished its first season in May. The most prominent news is that now it’s gone from a single show to a franchise; CBS subsequently ordered a spinoff series.
However, FBI: Most Wanted is a midseason program, so you won’t be able to watch it yet. This fall is strictly about the original series, and it’s going to look a bit different this season.
Sela Ward (who portrayed Special Agent in Charge Dana Mosier) was only signed to a one-season contract, and chose not to renew it, so Dana’s resignation at the end of last season will stand.

Replacing her is Isobel Castille, portrayed by Alana de la Garza. Fans already know the Isobel character; she was part of the spinoff’s backdoor pilot, as the agent in charge of the fugitive task force.
Since then producers decided to move Castille over to the original series (similar to what was done with Jon Seda when he transitioned from Chicago PD to Chicago Justice).

Also new in FBI season 2? John Boyd (Bones), who’s playing Kristen Chazal’s (Ebonee Noel) new partner now that Kristen is transitioning into working in the field.
Unlike de La Garza, Boyd is not a main cast member; right now he’s just a recurring guest star. But he’ll have a decent presence on the show this season, as the writers expand Kristen’s role and further flesh out the ensemble.
There’s also been a significant change behind the camera, too. Michael Chernuchin, the former showrunner of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Chicago Justice, has joined FBI this season. Rick Eid returns as showrunner, but the combination of those two together should be exciting and a huge plus for the show as it aims to build on its first season success.
Eid is the writer of the season premiere, “Little Egypt,” in which a bomb detonates inside of a restaurant that Special Agent Omar Adom “OA” Zidan (Zeeko Zaki) grew up frequenting. That provides a personal angle as the team rushes to investigate the case, while also adjusting to the changes inside their own bullpen.
FBI season 2 premieres Sept. 24 at 9 p.m. on CBS. Watch an official first look at the new season in the video below.
