What should you watch for when Chicago Med returns? Check out these three things you can’t miss during Chicago Med season 5.

Everyone is waiting for Chicago Med season 5 to begin. The season promises the resolution of several cliffhangers, in addition to the nail-biting medical drama that One Chicago fans have come to expect.

Yet with all the changes, and all the buzz that’s happened betwen seasons, what should you be watching for? We’ve put together this short list of the critical elements fans should pay attention to this season.

1) What’s next for Will?

Chicago Med fans have been focused on what happens to Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto). after the car accident. But we’re not talking enough about what the season-opening cliffhanger means for Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss).

Natalie got the worst of the accident, but Will’s life is a complete dumpster fire at the moment. He not only got dumped by his fiancee, but he was almost shot in the head before his brother Jay (Jesse Lee Soffer) rescued him, then he got shuffled off to witness protection in Arizona for two months. And then his car got T-boned in last season’s finale.

So when Chicago Med season 5 starts, he’s going to be in a rough place. He’s going to be upset about Natalie, still won’t be getting married to her, has to deal with Phillip Davis (recurring guest star Ian Harding) being around, and he’s just survived an attempt on his life for the second time. How is he going to handle all this?

Regardless of what happens to Natalie (spoilers here), Will has to move on with his life both as a person and as a doctor. He can’t mope around missing her forever, and he has to get back to work after spending all that time undercover last season. He’s got a lot of baggage to handle, and there isn’t anyone immediately there to help him. So what choices will he make and who will he turn to?
