What’s happening in this week’s Chicago PD episode? Find out about Assets with the Chicago PD season 7, episode 2 synopsis and teaser.

The next Chicago PD is going in a very familiar direction, according to NBC‘s official description of the episode and the promo they’ve released for it.

Wednesday’s episode is entitled “Assets” and involves Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) going on yet another undercover operation. Fans will remember that he did that in both of his two featured episodes last season (“Black and Blue” and “Night in Chicago”). That seems to be a plot device he is handed quite often, but viewers will probably not mind since it means seeing more of Atwater.

The B-story in the episode is about Adam Ruzek’s (Patrick John Flueger) pending charges, and it’ll be interesting to watch how the show handles that. After all, the one person who could definitely get him off the hook is now in rehab and not coming out. So how will Ruzek navigate around that problem? Is this going to be one of those stories where strings get pulled at the end to make it go away? Or how long will the writers let him squirm?

Here’s how NBC officially describes the episode:

"When Atwater goes undercover in a dangerous South Side drug syndicate, he learns there may be more to its kingpin than meets the eye. Halstead tries to join Atwater undercover, but finds himself at a disadvantage. Voight petitions the brass to show Ruzek leniency in his court case."
