NBC has released the official photos for season 5, episode 3 of Chicago Med, and there’s some obstacles that follow Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) after her car accident in the season premiere.
The October 9 episode, “In the Valley of the Shadows,” features Natalie going up against her injury in a high stakes way during a tricky scenario involving a patient.
Despite performing a successful procedure sans light, inside an elevator during Med‘s last episode, it appears that Dr. Manning’s head trauma will affect her work this time around.
In the promotional trailer, viewers saw Natalie glancing down at a chart, stating that she “confused those meds.” Will this mistake cost her a patient? Or, will her misstep cause her fellow doctors and nurses not to trust her judgement?
We’ve always seen Natalie as a very in control, put together person, who’s been focused on the job, and seems to balance things in a nice way. Perhaps “In the Valley of the Shadows” will cause that seemingly perfect exterior to break down a bit. Not that we haven’t seen Natalie suffer before, but for things to spill over into her work life could be new territory for Med to consider.
Natalie is not the only one who will tackle some problems at the hospital this week. According to the episode description, Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) and Dr. Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains) will clash over a patient’s treatment.
Meanwhile, rumors will start to spread about Maggie Lockwood (Marlyne Barrett). Is it due to her cancer diagnosis? Remember in the season premiere when she told Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) that she didn’t want anyone to know? Maybe her secret’s finally come out, much to her dismay. Maggie appears awfully distressed in the promotional photos; only time will tell if she was right to be wary about keeping her secret.
