Who were the One Chicago crossover’s most valuable characters? These Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med characters shined the most during Infection.

This week’s One Chicago crossover brought every character from Chicago MedChicago Fire, and Chicago PD together for one massive event. But while everyone came to play, some characters stood out more than others.

These are our picks for the five most valuable characters in “Infection,” who made the biggest impact during the crossover. Let us know who you thought were the best characters in the three-hour event in the comments.

Chicago Med‘s Will Halstead

Where can we begin with Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss)? The man was one of the first on scene at Chicago Med when “patient zero” came in, and he was the first to discover the necrotizing fasciitis (otherwise known as flesh-eating bacteria).

Will was instrumental in finding a potent antibiotic that could provide the cure for the disease, and despite encountering a couple of problems along the way, he continued to coordinate with members of Chicago Fire and Chicago PD to keep them up to date.

His biggest issue came during “Infection, Part 2” when he discovered that David Seldon (guest star Aaron Serotsky) was the real perpetrator behind the outbreak. Seldon had presented himself as just one of the researchers whose work was being co-opted for evil purposes, working with Will and Dr. Andrea Danover (guest star Kathleen Munroe) to find a cure.

However, Will caught him actually destroying their research, and got himself struck over the head with a microscope for it. If you’re keeping score, that’s the second time he’s had a head wound this season, since he came in with one from the car accident at the start of the Chicago Med season premiere!

Despite his brother Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) and Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) finding him all bloodied and bruised, Will didn’t give up on finding a cure for the disease. He continued to work with the CDC, and was the one to bring the solution to BRT’s corporate headquarters where Seldon was holding executives hostages.

Will’s scenes in the One Chicago crossover not only showed his skills as a doctor, but also his unwillingness to never give in or give up, even when it was hazardous to his health. Dr. Halstead has never done anything halfway, and “Infection” was another example of his admirable tenacity.
