Tomorrow’s Chicago Med looks like it will be more of the same, judging by the promotional photos that NBC has made available for the next episode.
The installment is titled “Who Knows What Tomorrow Brings,” but it’s hard to look too far ahead based on these images. None of them really reveal too much about the cases that the characters have to handle this week.
What’s more noticeable is that, if the photos are any indication, this episode will center on the same characters who have been driving much of the action this season. Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) is once again featured in several images, and the network synopsis does indicate that he’s one-half of the main case.
Plus, there’s more of April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta), who seems to be in a good mood at least for one scene, and her boyfriend Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee). April and Ethan, as well as the Chexton relationship, have grown into huge parts of the show between last season and this season. So what’s in store for them next?

It’s a bit surprising that the network photos for Med have generally not been as informative as they were in seasons past, but they do provide some clues as to which characters the show is emphasizing now and in turn, how the show sees itself. The writers’ new focus on the Emergency Department seems to have also provided a new dynamic for the characters, too.
After all, did you notice that Manstead is almost entirely absent here, despite the massive reveal that happened for them at the end of the previous episode? But perhaps they’re taking a back seat this week to other happenings around the hospital.
