Chicago PD season 7, episode 8 recap: No Regrets
One more chase
The duo are the first on the scene, with Voight not far behind. Burgess approaches Ray’s stolen car and finds it empty, confirming that he must be in the store. She goes in alone, despite Ruzek just standing there in the parking lot, and literally bumps into their suspect. And then a marked patrol unit rolls up that Ruzek can’t wave off in time. The patrol officers of Chicago PD are really batting a negative score across the One Chicago universe right now.
Ray sees them and runs back inside the store, leaving Burgess to get into an armed standoff with him. Finally Ruzek comes in to help, along with the patrol guy who caused the screw-up. Everyone chases Ray out behind the store, but he won’t put his gun down so the patrol officer shoots him. Burgess begs him to say where Henry is, but he dies instead.
Upton searches Ray’s car for clues and finds camping gear, which provides a lead. A massive search begins in the final few minutes of the episode, but in keeping with this week’s theme, it’s Burgess and Ruzek who end up in the right place. Burgess busts the lock on Ray’s camper and finds Henry inside; she administers an epi-pen and saves the kid. He’s brought to Med and reunited with his mother.
Chicago PD finishes with Burgess slowly slipping out after Claire tells her that “I’m glad [Ray]’s dead, but I wouldn’t trade Henry for the world.” Burgess gets that thinking look on her face, and still has it in the locker room after her shift ends. Ruzek finds her and the two finally finish the talk they’ve been having for half the episode.
He wants to drive her to her appointment, which is implied to be for an abortion. However, Kim has cancelled it; she’s no longer sure what she wants. And we’re not sure where they, or the show, go from here.
