What will happen in the Chicago Med midseason finale? Here are our predictions for Chicago Med season 5 ahead of the fall finale.

The Chicago Med midseason finale airs this Wednesday, so it’s time to predict where the series will leave One Chicago fans. Every finale within the One Chicago franchise has plot twists, cliffhangers, or some other surprise that leaves us wanting more, so this year’s installment will be no exception.

What will become of Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) and Natalie Manning’s (Torrey DeVitto) relationship? What about Maggie Lockwood’s (Marlyne Barrett) blossoming romance with fellow cancer patient Ben, that has since taken a tragic turn? Will she have to answer for her rash actions in last week’s episode?

And of course, we can’t forget the potential love triangle that may be forming between Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee), Nurse April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta), and newcomer Dr. Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains). Will in-house romance take priority over the actual medical procedures in the fall finale? Here’s what we think will happen on Chicago Med.

A major Manstead revelation

A lot of Chicago Med fans have been anxiously awaiting the revival of Manstead’s romance. The relationship between Will Halstead and Natalie Manning has seen some major ups and downs, although recently, it’s been more downs than anything else.

The former couple have had multiple arguments over both personal and professional issues, and everything came to a head in “It’s All in the Family” when Natalie told Will to “stay out of her life.” Will was left heartbroken after the statement, but has since honored her wish, and has stayed far away from his former fiancé.

In fact, he’s strayed so far that Med has given him a potential new love interest in medical student Elsa Curry (Molly Bernard). There have been some one-sided glances on her part, and she made an attempt to ask out a clueless Will on a date to a concert. When it went over his head the first time, she was going in for a second try when his date of the evening approached him: a blonde paramedic named Juliet.

But, back to Manstead. Natalie is the one who has the revelation, and it appears that her memory of that night of the accident comes back. With these memories of what she was going to tell Will in the forefront of her mind, she goes to confront him about it.

While it might not be an uber romantic reveal of their unresolved feelings for one another, fans may at least get a genuine apology or mutual forgiveness. In the promo, we hear Natalie say, “all this time, it was him,” meaning that this whole time, Will was only trying to get her to see what she was really trying to tell him all those nights ago.

With her relationship with Philip Davis (Ian Harding) done, and Natalie’s patients seemingly done being overseen by Dr. Halstead, maybe this can be a new beginning for the couple. While Will was only doing his job by taking over Natalie’s patients while she was still recuperating, it did cause quite a rift within their already fragile relationship.

The couple has been through a lot together. They survived the accident, who’s to say they can’t survive the emotional turmoil to find their way back to each other?
