Chicago PD season 7 midseason finale predictions
By Kari Highman
What will happen in the Chicago PD midseason finale? Here are our predictions for Chicago PD season 7 ahead of the fall finale.
The Chicago PD midseason finale airs this Wednesday, so it’s time to predict where the series will leave One Chicago fans. Every finale within the One Chicago franchise has plot twists, cliffhangers, or some other surprise that leaves us wanting more, so this year’s installment will be no exception.
What kind of trouble is Detective Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) in this time? Will the unit be able to rescue him before the season breaks, or leave us wondering about his fate over the hiatus?
And what about Sergeant Hank Voight’s (Jason Beghe) entanglements with Interim Superintendent Jason Crawford (Paul Adelstein) or Darius Walker (Michael Beach)? Will those come into play at all? Here’s what we think will happen on Chicago PD.
Jay Halstead will be seriously hurt
Fan favorite Jay Halstead will be the one in peril when the Chicago PD fall finale airs Wednesday. If the above photo is any indication of his predicament, safe to say that unfortunately, he’s in for a world of hurt. The promo for the midseason finale showed that Halstead is MIA, and the rest of Intelligence is racing against the clock to find him.
But Chicago PD usually builds things up like this, like when it laid the groundwork with Antonio Dawson’s (Jon Seda) prescription drug addiction ahead of last season’s fall finale. Halstead’s situation is a little out of the blue, not to mention giving off slight deja vu. In Chicago PD season 5, his secret relationship with Camila (Anabelle Acosta) had interfered with an investigation.
According to the synopsis for “Absolution” Jay finds himself in yet another “secret relationship.” While this description is rather vague, it doesn’t bode well for Halstead, as it too will come to interfere with an investigation—only this time, his life is on the line.
The latest Chicago PD season 7 promo shows him tied up and bloodied, with a betrayed look on his face. It appears he’s struck over the head, and the perpetrator lands a right hook to his face. These clues about the situation he finds himself in lend themselves to two conclusions.
Either the person Jay was going to see is somehow involved in putting him in harm’s way or Jay, out of the goodness of his heart, pulls a Voight by going to check on a victim, and ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time. Either way, it’s been a while since fans have seen Jay in such a dire situation, and it won’t end well.
He’s already had a close call once in the One Chicago crossover, so can the show really go there again? And it would be a perfect midseason finale cliffhanger to really hurt Halstead or have him still missing by the time the credits roll.
