Chicago PD season 7 midseason finale predictions
By Kari Highman
Halstead won’t be the only one with a big development
With Halstead’s storyline taking precedent in the Chicago PD midseason finale, there may not be as much time to devote to other members of Intelligence. That’s not to say we won’t see how Halstead’s abduction affects them, or changes for them as well.
Take his former partner Upton—the two have been through a lot together, growing closer over the last couple years. And we know that she cares deeply about him, because this won’t be her first time seeing Jay in a life or death situation. During the Chicago PD season 6 crossover “Endings” Upton feared Halstead was dead, being so emotional that she ended up crying to Ruzek and that was what started the Upzek relationship.
While the general storyline brings back memories of Halstead being abducted before during Chicago PD season 3, it’s possible that this storyline could also bring back bad memories from that previous crossover. It’s certainly something to consider, or at least something that the writers may draw from with Upton’s character.
Voight was there during Halstead’s first abduction, and the promo shows him taking point in a similar fashion this time around. Voight’s “no stone unturned” attitude has yielded numerous saves for members of Intelligence, so there’s a strong possibility that’s exactly what happens in this Chicago PD finale.
Both of them could take drastic actions for Halstead and/or have an important moment with him by the time the episode ends (if he’s found). Plus, don’t forget that Burgess is now pregnant and the show’s still hinting at something between Atwater and Rojas. Jay won’t be the only one who’s changed this week.
