Chicago PD’s Michael Beach stars in Apple TV+ drama Truth Be Told

Chicago PD recurring guest star Michael Beach is starring in another crime drama: Apple’s star-studded new series Truth Be Told.

While Michael Beach is playing a drug dealer on Chicago PD, he’s on the right side of the law in his new Apple series Truth Be Told.

The crime drama, which premieres on the company’s Apple TV+ streaming service today, is based on the novel Are You Sleeping and stars Oscar winner Octavia Spencer as a true crime podcaster.

Beach is a series regular as Spencer’s character’s husband, who presumably won’t be thrilled as she believes the killer she helped convict (portrayed by Emmy winner Aaron Paul) may not actually have committed the crime.

Another Chicago PD alum, Mekhi Phifer—who played the man kidnapped with Kevin Atwater in the episode “Captive”—also stars as the former detective who worked on the case.

Those names alone should be reason enough for One Chicago fans to be interested in the show, but there are other reasons why it will appeal. For one, it’s another crime drama. For two, it’s all about exploring grey areas in investigating those crimes, which is exactly the same space that the Intelligence Unit lives in. Almost everything they do exists in a grey area.

It’s also dropping while Chicago PD is still on its winter hiatus. That makes this a perfect time to dive into another show, and one where Michael Beach will be playing a character who is nowhere near the scheming, manipulative Darius Walker. Watching this will likely make viewers look at Darius a little differently when the show returns.
