Fans of Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med will be disappointed as the One Chicago fandom was left off the FanSided 250 for the second straight year.

The One Chicago franchise has some of the most-watched shows on TV, but it didn’t make the cut for the most buzzworthy fandoms of 2019, according to the FanSided 250.

The FanSided 250 (formerly Fandom 250) is FanSided’s ranking of the 250 most popular fandoms across all forms of entertainment as well as sports. One Chicago failed to register, whicih means it has been left off the list two years in a row.

Overall, the One Chicago franchise has been left off the shortlist three out of the four years that it has been published.

This latest snub is a bit surprising given that Chicago Fire and Chicago Med routinely trade off the title of most-watched broadcast TV show on Wednesday nights, pulling in 7-9 million live viewers each week.

And Chicago PD is regularly within the Top 5, if not the Top 3, so this fandom is clearly growing and getting more attention, especially after NBC created its “Chicago Wednesdays” block last year.

But in the end, that wasn’t enough for it to register with FanSided’s editorial team in a competitive field that included other popular TV fandoms like Supernatural, Doctor Who, and The Bachelor.

That makes this a slightly rough week for fans, as the three shows were also passed over during the Golden Globe nominations on Monday, too.

But when your series are the most popular on their given night, and some of the most popular on TV, you’ve got nothing to be ashamed of. Two of the three programs are getting closer to a decade on the air—if Chicago Fire is renewed, next season would be season 9—and they’re doing better than they’ve ever been before.

That’s not common; mostly, shows that have been on this long either decline in quality, or lose their audience to newer, more exciting ideas, or both. One Chicago is staying on top, and perhaps fans can make the FanSided 250 next year if they continue to build momentum on social media and in the ratings.

dark. Next. One Chicago misses out on Golden Globes
