One Chicago welcomed three new heroes this season. Check out the best moments from Chicago Fire, Chicago Med and Chicago PD’s new arrivals in 2019.

The One Chicago franchise had an infusion of fresh blood, and fresh drama, this season. Each of the three series added a new main cast member, and every one of those characters had several major moments. But which were the best first impressions?

Chicago Med received “go with the flow”  Dr. Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains), while Chicago Fire took a chance on rookie firefighter Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende); and Chicago PD welcomed street smart Vanessa Rojas (Lisseth Chavez).

The first nine episodes of this season showcased their unique skill sets and unwavering passion for their respective jobs, but there were many other moments throughout these new seasons where they shined. From saving lives to taking on the toughest criminals, we’ve picked out our five favorite moments featuring Blake Gallo, Vanessa Rojas and Crockett Marcel. Which scenes would make your list?

5. Marcel’s life-saving decision

Chicago Med threw Marcel right in the thick of things when it came to making life-changing medical decisions; he faced several major dilemmas in the first half of the season. An episode that prominently showcased his expertise and care for his fellow man was “Too Close to the Sun.”

The episode had Dr. Marcel disagreeing with Emergency Department chief Dr. James Lanik (recurring guest star Nate Santana) over the proper life-saving measures to take when April Sexton’s (Yaya DaCosta) brother Noah (Roland Buck III) was rolled into the ER.

Crockett went so far as to take control of the operating room, in an attempt to undercut Dr. Lanik’s decision to continue Noah’s surgery. When Lanik still didn’t listen, it took Noah coding for Marcel’s point to be made. With no other choice, Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) ordered that Lanik stop working on Noah.

After Crockett took the reins, Noah made a full recovery and was stabilized, much to the joy of his sister April. She profusely thanked Marcel and apologized for their earlier argument over him not being forthcoming with information.

Marcel isn’t really the type to hold grudges, as his attitude reads more relaxed than reluctant. Viewers knew how much he had bonded with Noah—he was (and still is, as far as we know!) his surgical supervisor, after all—so we know he genuinely cares about Noah’s well-being. And his actions in this episode put his money where his mouth was, metaphorically speaking.

This moment was extra memorable due to the fact that it was the first time Marcel had handled a professional case that he was also personally involved in. Remember that argument with April? Marcel knew where Noah was before he was attacked but didn’t tell April or anyone else about it until after his injury.

While Marcel did make up for that by thankfully saving Noah Sexton’s life, that wasn’t the only time the fun-loving doctor was caught up in the drama of Chicago Med. He had another huge One Chicago moment elsewhere in the season.
