4. Stella Kidd, Sylvie Brett and Emily Foster, Chicago Fire

This lovely trio of women has been featured a lot more in Chicago Fire season 8, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. While the three of them individually have had some incredible storylines thus far this season, it’s their friendship that really brings it all together on-screen.

Take the women’s lounge subplot in “What Went Wrong.” Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer), Emily Foster (Annie Ilonzeh), and Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) simply wanted a place where they could be their complete feminine selves—and why shouldn’t they have that kind of space? After all, they’re surrounded by guys the majority of their shifts. It was a real treat to see the three of them team up to create such a nice space for women; that is, until it got out of hand.

While we were sad to see the women’s lounge go, that storyline brought a sense of unity between the two paramedics and the firefighter. Who doesn’t love a little bit of girl power, right? This theme continued to be shown as Chicago Fire season 8 progressed, especially when Stella needed it most.

In the episode “Badlands” One Chicago viewers saw Stella get selected by Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) to represent Firehouse 51 at a leadership conference. That eventually scored her a spot as a fire academy instructor, which seemed like the perfect next step in Stella climbing the proverbial ladder.

Too bad it stretched her so thin that she was scrambling to stay alert. Stella needed the support of her friends, and that’s exactly what she got in Brett and Foster. The two paramedics helped Stella restructure her schedule so she could take the time to rest up. Unfortunately, it took a minor car accident to wake her up and realize that she needed to get her priorities straight.

An honorable mention here should go to the moments between Foster and Brett, whether it’s been Foster’s curiosity surrounding Brett’s potential relationship with Captain Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer), or her support of Brett’s return to Firehouse 51. The two have shown a great deal of growth within their partnership this season, and the amazing energy of Stella Kidd just adds more to their friendship—and the show.
