Chicago PD’s Brian Geraghty returns for Chicago Fire/PD crossover
By Kari Highman
An old friend and former police officer returns to his old stomping grounds in the upcoming Chicago PD / Fire crossover. Brian Geraghty, who portrayed Sean Roman, will be back for the Feb. 26 event.
If the insane Infection trilogy wasn’t enough drama for you, the One Chicago universe has you covered, as Chicago Fire and Chicago PD will unite for a mini-crossover event in February. Even better? A familiar face will return to join in on all the fun.
Brian Geraghty, who portrayed Officer Sean Roman from seasons 2-3, is set to make an appearance in the Chicago Fire/PD crossover. This isn’t the first news of beloved One Chicago characters returning to their shows, as in Chicago Fire‘s midseason finale, Gabriela Dawson (Monica Raymund) surprised everyone at 51 with her arrival.
According to TV Insider, Chicago PD executive producer Rick Eid shared that Roman’s return will involve a storyline with the underused character of Trudy Platt (Amy Morton). The connection makes sense, as Platt served as both Roman and Kim Burgess’ (Marina Squerciati) supervisor during their patrol days.
Speaking of Burgess, how will she react to the news of her former flame being back in Chicago? Will they even get to see each other? While they ended their brief fling amicably, it’s still got to be weird to see an ex. Not to mention, she is pregnant with Adam Ruzek’s (Patrick John Flueger) child!
While we’re on the subject of the Burzek baby, it’s natural to wonder if Roman will find out about Burgess’ bun in the oven. If he does find out, how would he react? He and Ruzek didn’t exactly get along well (even before he and Burgess began hooking up), so this may be a touchy subject for either party to breach.
There are not a lot of details on the two-part episode yet, but Eid did say that it will involve Sean and his sister. We didn’t even know Roman had a sister – so it will definitely be interesting to see how this plays out. Brian did post on social media that he had received the script for Chicago Fire, which is filming first. Chicago PD is supposed to begin filming for their part of the crossover episode sometime next week.
We cannot wait to see another fan-favorite character back on Chicago PD this year, and we are excited to see what happens when the Chicago Fire/PD crossover airs on Feb. 26.
