What’s coming in the next Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med episodes? Find out what to watch for in our One Chicago preview for Feb. 26.

Fans are already looking forward to the next Chicago PD, Chicago Med and Chicago Fire episodes—so what should you be looking forward for? What clues can we pick up from the promos we’ve seen this week? Get your first glimpse ahead in our One Chicago preview.

With all three series taking a brief break in order to accommodate the latest Democratic candidates’ debate, there’s no momentum that’s carrying into the newest episodes. But the shows may not need it, because they’re returning with the second One Chicago crossover of the season, and a guest appearance by a former series regular.

Will that return be worth waiting for? What else could be at work during the crossover event? Here’s what we have our eyes on for this coming Wednesday, Feb. 26.

Chicago Fire: Were Severide and Roman really friends?

The synopsis for Wednesday’s episode of Chicago Fire describes Sean Roman (special guest star Brian Geraghty) as an “old friend” of Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney). Except One Chicago fans don’t remember them being very close when Roman was a regular character on Chicago PD. So how are we supposed to interpret this?

It’s possible that this was just an awkward choice of words, and we’re not about to experience a retcon in the crossover. After all, there’s a certain degree of friendliness between all the characters in the One Chicago universe—since the whole theme of this franchise is them being “one family.”

So maybe it’s friends in that sense and not meant to sound like these two have been palling around together. But we’ll have to see how their interaction plays out on screen. Even if they weren’t close before, maybe they’ll find some type of friendship through whatever happens in this episode.

Chicago PD: How will Roman and Burgess interact?

As soon as Brian Geraghty’s return was announced, the first question in One Chicago viewers’ minds was if he’ll interact with his ex-partner Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati), who was also his girlfriend before he left for San Diego. There’s no way this isn’t awkward, so the question is how awkward and soapy are the writers going to make it?

It’s been a few seasons since their breakup, and Burgess is now back with the guy she was going to marry before Roman: Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger). They’re not putting any label on their renewed relationship, but fans consider it one and chances are Ruzek would too if Roman tried to rekindle anything with Kim.

Past any potential jealousy, this could be a huge landmine for Chicago PD, too. Burgess is at a very tough point in her life, having lost her baby two episodes ago, and some fans are still unhappy. So even if Roman doesn’t want Burgess back, his return could make things even harder for her—and could tick off the viewers more if they feel it’s done wrong.

Keep in mind there’s only so much that can be done, since Brian Geraghty is only coming back as a guest star. Roman’s going to leave again at the end of this crossover, so let’s hope he doesn’t leave having made Burgess’s world more complicated.

Chicago Med: Is Will about to make a huge mistake?

This week’s Chicago Med will likely have a harder time getting people’s attention, since many fans will be focused on the crossover. And that might actually be a good thing, because if the episode is about what it sounds like it’s going to be about, there will definitely be someone upset.

NBC’s official synopsis includes the line “Dr. Halstead puts his faith in an addict.” Viewers know that the addict is Dr. Hannah Asher (recurring guest star Jessy Schram), and she and Will (Nick Gehlfuss) were seen looking awfully cozy at the end of last Wednesday’s installment. But Chicago Med wouldn’t saddle Will with another unnecessary love interest, right? Especially one who’s a drug addict?

It would undercut any impact this storyline might have if the writers turn it into yet another romantic plot. And setting that aside, Will doesn’t need a love interest right now. He certainly doesn’t need one who’s been abrasive and defensive, alternating between lashing out at him and maybe sort of liking him. He’s already had that back-and-forth with Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto), and everyone’s tired of it. So hopefully this is much ado about nothing, and that line just means Will helps Asher into rehab.
