One Chicago to air repeats on April 1; latest schedule update
One Chicago viewers will have to wait one more week between new episodes as Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med are on another break. Find out why.
One Chicago is taking another week off. NBC has scheduled repeats of Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago PD for this Wednesday, April 1 instead of new episodes.
The news was officially broken during last week’s episodes, when pop-up graphics on the screen informed viewers that the three shows would return on April 8.
That information will almost certainly go over badly with fans. It’s the second week of repeats in the last four Wednesdays; there were also reruns on March 11.

What’s the reason for the latest schedule swap? The network has not made an official statement but it’s likely that they’re trying to stretch the remaining episodes of this season so that they last as long as possible.
On top of the usual spring breaks that happen during every broadcast TV season, the fact that all three series had to shut down production this month due to COVID-19 means that NBC has less episodes available right now.

Another Dick Wolf series, FBI, is having to end its season with episode 19. The One Chicago franchise just aired episode 18 of its season last Wednesday (though NBC hasn’t announced when the Fire, Med and PD seasons are expected to end).
In the immediate future, we’ll get three more repeats. Chicago Fire is airing “When Nick Porter Happened,” in which Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) and Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) rent out the extra room in their apartment left vacant after Otis’s (Yuri Sardarov) death.
Chicago PD is doing an encore of “43rd and Normal,” where Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) deal with her unexpected pregnancy, leading Ruzek to make a big gesture toward Burgess.
And Chicago Med has chosen “Guess It Doesn’t Matter Anymore,” in which Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) treats a former patient (played by Chicago Justice star Joelle Carter) a second time.
