Chicago Med producers: Chexton about to be affected ‘in a big way’
Chicago Med‘s showrunners reveal April and Choi’s relationship is majorly tested this week and more in our Chicago Med season 5, episode 19 teaser.
If you thought that argument was the height of April and Choi’s issues, think again—because in this Wednesday’s episode, the couple known as Chexton will face another big test, according to executive producers Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider.
In “Just A River In Egypt,” Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) continues to be upset with Dr. Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains), and the situation blows back onto his relationship with April.

“The tension does affect his relationship with April,” Andrew and Diane told One Chicago Center in our latest interview, “in a big way.”
And for those Med fans wondering why there haven’t been professional consequences for Choi, considering he’s been behaving badly for weeks now, you’re going to get those too.
“Goodwin does try to put a stop to it,” they added. So this clearly won’t be a good week if you’re a Choi fan, but what about the other characters?

Among the other information Diane and Andrew shared? Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) is once again stirring up some controversy with his latest case, siding with girlfriend Dr. Hannah Asher (returning guest star Jessy Schram) on a treatment plan that not everyone agress with.
But the co-showrunners told us that’s just Will being Will, and not necessarily a reflection on his new relationship or him going a little nuts with everything he’s just been through.
“Will has always been a rash and impulsive doctor, but his actions stem from his concern for his patients,” they said. “Will’s impulsiveness has always been a cause for concern and will continue to be.”
Hopefully he won’t get called into Goodwin’s office, too, especially considering he was just there!

And Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt)’s teenage daughter does not reappear in this episode, but he will continue to have parenting issues going forward in what’s left of the season.
“Their relationship will be a continuing storyline as we move forward,” they added. “The father-daughter bond will develop and grow, although it will often be a bumpy ride.”
It was announced Thursday that Chicago Med, along with the other two One Chicago series, will end its season next week.
