One Chicago ratings drop in return, particularly in key demo
One Chicago ratings were down for the returns of Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med on April 8, especially among the key demographic.
If fans were expecting that the franchise would return after a week off and crush its competition, they were in for a surprise. While all three series still had incredibly strong numbers, they were all down in some way compared to the last new episodes on March 25.
One Chicago ratings took a particularly noticeable hit in the key demographic of adults 18-49, with some incredibly stiff competition from both FOX and ABC.

Chicago Med ratings
This week’s Chicago Med episode “Just A River In Egypt” recorded 8.95 million live viewers. That made it Wednesday night’s most-watched broadcast TV show.
But before anyone gets too excited, it was down from the last new episode (-0.56, or 560,000 less viewers).
Chicago Med ratings also took a hit amongst adults 18-49. It dropped from a 1.4 share to a 1.2 (-0.2), plunging the series from third place in that category all the way into a tie for sixth.

Chicago Fire ratings
Chicago Fire ratings were down for the wedding episode “Light Things Up” as it recorded 8.92 million people watching live. Like its lead-in, that’s an impressive number, but it was less than the number of viewers from the previous episode (-0.09, or 90,000 less).
The episode also dropped in the demo from a 1.3 to a 1.2, tying it with Med for sixth place out of the 14 shows that aired on broadcast television this Wednesday. It had previously been fourth in that age range. The show did, however, hold onto total viewers as it was second overall.
Chicago PD ratings
Wednesday’s Chicago PD had the least change in this week’s One Chicago ratings. “Buried Secrets” had an audience of 7.85 million, which was actually up incrementally over the prior mark of 7.82 (+0.03, or 30,000 extra people).
Where the police drama took a hit was within that demographic, and it was a hard one. The series dropped from a 1.2 to a 1.1, and from a tie for fifth place all the way to ninth out of 14 shows. It wasn’t just out of the Top 5; it was almost out of the Top 10!
Overall, while the franchise was still on top in terms of total audience, this was the first week in a long time where all three shows were outside the Top 5 amongst viewers 18-49. Since they are all that NBC airs on Wednesday nights, the network plunged to third place out of the five broadcast TV networks among that core audience.
