Chicago PD‘s Elias Koteas shoots House

In: The House episode “No Reason” (2006)

Bet you didn’t know that before he played Det. Alvin Olinsky on Chicago PD, Elias Koteas was the guy who shot Dr. Gregory House! In the House season 2 finale, Koteas portrayed John Moriarty, a disturbed former patient of Hugh Laurie’s character who showed up at the hospital and shot him twice, putting House into a coma.

Koteas’s performance, and his chemistry with Laurie, is the biggest reason why this episode worked. And it is kind of neat that the man who played one of One Chicago’s most beloved cops also portrayed one of House‘s most infamous villains. That’s a complete 180-degree turn!

Chicago Med‘s Brian Tee as Ninja Turtles villain

In: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016)

Once upon a time, Brian Tee played a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles villain. And not just any villain—The Shredder, who is the Turtles’ most prominent and longest-running bad guy. He was pretty much unrecognizable when he was behind Shredder’s face mask, but watching him stalk around in that costume with all the metal parts and pointy helmet will still surprise anyone who only knows him as Dr. Ethan Choi.

Being the villain in a comic book movie, Shredder didn’t have any redeeming qualities, so there wasn’t a lot of character development here. He just got to lead the Foot Clan ninjas and attempt to conquer the Turtles, and it’s no spoiler to say that he’s not successful. But fans might get a kick out of seeing Brian in such an over the top role, and it’s even more amusing when you remember that Elias Koteas previously played the Turtles’ human ally Casey Jones in an earlier movie.

Chicago Fire‘s Alberto Rosende fights demons

In: Shadowhunters (2016-2019)

Alberto Rosende has won a lot of One Chicago viewers over since joining Chicago Fire this season as firefighter Blake Gallo. But viewers might not have watched his previous work yet, and the TV role he had before One Chicago is something completely different. Rosende established himself on Freeform’s teen fantasy drama Shadowhunters as Simon Lewis, the main character’s best friend and ally in her supernatural hunting adventures.

There are certainly not demons and other mystical creatures running around Chicago, so this is a definite departure for Fire fans; it’s a Buffy the Vampire Slayer-type show. But as a series regular, and the BFF of Clary Fray (played by Arrow‘s Katherine McNamara), Alberto gets plenty of screen time. And because it’s a young adult fantasy show, he gets involved in a lot of wild situations, both in dealing with demons, vampires and the like, and in his personal life. Simon gets kidnapped almost right away in the second episode and it’s only crazier from there.

Plus, he recorded a song for the show! That’s something you’re definitely not going to see happen in the One Chicago universe.
