Chicago Fire’s Annie Ilonzeh once led ABC’s Charlie Angels reboot
Annie Ilonzeh won’t return as Emily Foster, but Chicago Fire fans can stream ABC’s Charlie’s Angels reboot to see her in a different starring role.
One Chicago fans who are disappointed in Annie Ilonzeh‘s exit from Chicago Fire, or who need a show to watch this weekend, can check her out in Charlie’s Angels.
Before Ilonzeh was cast as paramedic Emily Foster in the One Chicago franchise, and almost ten years ago, she starred in ABC‘s revamp of the classic action series. Charlie’s Angels lasted for one season in 2011, and was Ilonzeh’s last series regular role before she joined Chicago Fire in 2018.
Developed by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (Smallville, Into the Badlands), the show followed a new trio of women who worked as private detectives for the unseen Charlie Townsend (voiced by Alias and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow star Victor Garber).

The trio worked with Charlie’s right-hand man John Bosley (Ramon Rodriguez, Need for Speed), while they had ongoing battles with a criminal mastermind played by Carlos Bernard (24).
Like the original, it was a light crime drama that mixed fighting crime with plenty of glamour, glitz and beauty. Unfortunately, it didn’t catch on with viewers as well as the original—though ABC had ordered a 13-episode first season, the show was cancelled after only four episodes had aired.
Eight episodes were produced, though, and all of them have since been made available on DVD and online. That makes the show a quick but fun escape for any One Chicago viewers who want to see more of Annie Ilonzeh, or to see her in a role that’s much more glammed up and physical than playing Emily Foster.
It was announced last month that Ilonzeh would not be returning to Chicago Fire after two seasons as a series regular; no official explanation for her exit was given at the time, and no replacement has been named yet. But while she might not be riding on Ambulance 61 anymore, there’s still a lot of her work that One Chicago audiences can discover, and the most fun place to start is with Charlie’s Angels.
