Lauren German is back in the Lucifer season 5 trailer.
German, who starred as paramedic Leslie Shay in the first two seasons of Chicago Fire, has been the female lead of Lucifer since 2016. Her character Chloe Decker is a Los Angeles detective who partners with the title character (portrayed by Rush‘s Tom Ellis), initially not believing that he is the Lord of Hell.
As the show continues, an attraction develops between the two characters, but Chloe eventually discovers the truth and struggles to accept it. It also becomes clear that Chloe is part of a larger prophecy, and that their meeting wasn’t a coincidence.
Lucifer season 5 premieres Friday, Aug. 21 and will be a Netflix exclusive.
The series developed a strong fan following at FOX, which cancelled it after three seasons due to low ratings; Netflix then picked it up for two more seasons that were supposed to be the end of the program.

However, after negotiating new contracts with the cast, the streamer changed their minds earlier this year and confirmed that there will be a sixth season. That’s coming later on—what’s available in August is the start of season 5.
Netflix is releasing the season in two parts. The first eight episodes will be released altogether in August; it’s not known yet when the remaining eight episodes are going to be available.
Check out the Lucifer season 5 trailer below. The previous season is also available on Netflix for any Lauren German fans who might not be caught up yet, and is recommended viewing as that season ends with a major revelation involving the character of Chloe.
