Annie Ilonzeh has signed with Agency for the Performing Arts.

Chicago Fire alum Annie Ilonzeh has made a big career move, signing with a new agency this week.

According to an exclusive report from Deadline, Ilonzeh is now represented by Agency for the Performing Arts (APA).

The actress exited Chicago Fire after the latest season. Her character, Emily Foster, decided to return to medical school and was waiting to hear if she would be accepted into Northwestern University’s program.

More from Annie Ilonzeh

Ilonzeh spent two seasons in the One Chicago universe, being hired to replace Monica Raymund when Raymund declined to renew her contract after season 5. No announcement has been made yet about who will succeed Ilonzeh on the show.

In fact, fans are wondering if she’ll return when season 9 premieres this fall, to give an on-screen goodbye to Foster. Emily’s last scene did not say that she’d been accepted to med school, and with four episodes lost from season 8 due to the coronavirus pandemic, it’s possible that there is still an exit story out there for the character.

Ilonzeh moving to a new agency could affect that. It’s agents who negotiate contract terms for their clients, and presumably she’s no longer under contract with Chicago Fire. The producers then would have to negotiate a deal for her to return to the show with APA, unless the four episodes that didn’t get filmed last year are somehow being rolled over.

We’ll have to wait and see if she does indeed reprise her role as Emily Foster in the One Chicago universe. But if nothing else, getting new representation should hopefully lead to new options for Annie as she pursues her career after Chicago Fire. Two seasons on one of TV’s most popular dramas ought to have raised her profile even further, and it would be fantastic if she lands on a new show, like several former stars have done.
