Chicago Fire alum Eloise Mumford’s The Right Stuff premiere date
The Right Stuff, with Eloise Mumford, has a premiere date and trailer.
Chicago Fire actress Eloise Mumford is officially joining the space race this fall. Disney Plus has announced The Right Stuff premiere date and dropped The Right Stuff trailer.
The miniseries, based on Tom Wolfe’s book of the same name, will begin streaming exclusively on Disney Plus on Oct. 9. The first two episodes will drop that day.
Though it’s produced by National Geographic, there are no plans to air it on NatGeo or any other channel at the moment, so One Chicago fans will have to have a subscription to the Disney service to watch.

The Right Stuff takes place in 1959, with eight episodes telling the true story behind the Mercury 7 as NASA rushed to get an astronaut into space and beat the Soviet Union’s space program.
One of the astronauts involved is Captain Gordo Cooper, played by Once Upon A Time actor Colin O’Donoghue. Mumford, who recurred as Sylvie Brett’s (Kara Killmer) frenemy Hope Jacquinot on Chicago Fire, portrays Gordo’s wife Trudy, who is herself an accomplished pilot—but she’s put her career ambitions on hold for her family.

Other cast members include Patrick J. Adams (Suits) as Major John Glenn, Jake McDorman (Limitless, Murphy Brown) as Lieutenant Commander Alan Shepard, and James Lafferty (One Tree Hill) playing Scott Carpenter.
In addition to announcing The Right Stuff premiere date, Disney has also released The Right Stuff trailer that gives audiences an idea of what they can expect from the show. As you’d expect from a series that is about the final frontier, it’s pretty grand.
If your only exposure to Eloise Mumford is the character of Hope, this is a program to take a look at. Trudy couldn’t be more different from the unhinged Hope, and it sounds like she’ll have a fairly prominent role, particularly if they lean into the fact that she’s a competent pilot herself.
The only downside is that The Right Stuff is on a streaming platform so that may turn off fans who don’t want to pay for an additional Disney Plus subscription just to check it out. But with a great cast including Eloise, it should be well worth the money and time.
This will be the second series this fall starring a One Chicago actor with a space theme. Netflix’s upcoming series Away features Chicago Med recurring guest star Ato Essandoh as an astronaut on an international mission to Mars.
