Chicago Med has a new—and free—streaming home next month.

Fans of Chicago Med will finally have a place to watch every episode online, for free, starting in September 2020 when the show comes to IMdB TV.

The streaming service, an offshoot of Internet Movie Database and owned by Amazon, is adding all five Chicago Med seasons on Sept. 1, as well as seasons 7 and 8 of Chicago Fire.

This marks the first time that Chicago Med has been available to watch online someplace that doesn’t require an additional subscription or a cable provider login.

More from Chicago Med

The show had been streaming on Hulu but fans had to sign up for the service, and for most of that time, Hulu only had episodes from the most recent season.

And though Med was expected to make the move to NBC’s streaming platform Peacock when that opened in July, so far they only have season 5 as well—and you likewise have to subscribe for it.

While IMdB TV does have ads that fans will have to watch, that’s likely a small trade-off for having free access to the episodes, especially since they usually don’t rerun after they originally air.

IMdB TV has been home to the first few seasons of Chicago Fire since last December, as Internet Movie Database entered the streaming game. They have a sizeable catalog of movies and TV, and are also working on their own original content, such as the upcoming Leverage revival.

They don’t yet have any episodes of Chicago PD, but considering that PD is seen on multiple TV channels because of its syndication deal, that’s not a huge loss. The bigger news is that Med and Fire have another platform to reach viewers and make new fans, without the extra cost that can dissuade some people from watching.

You can watch Chicago Med online on IMdB TV starting Tuesday. Don’t hesitate to enjoy it, as it’s still possible that Peacock takes over streaming the show in future.
